A few months back, I caught the bug and started shooting to Instagram. I get to see what everyone else is seeing which I love.
I find that shooting with this ap and my phone has allowed me to reconnect to imagery I haven’t thought about for quite a long time. The beauty of the street, architecture, and the ugly, which is also quite beautiful, think Lewis Baltz, Walker Evans, or Mitch Epstein. I think it’s got something to do with growing up in Los Angeles in the 70’s and 80’s and being surrounded by so much stucco and new developments and housing. There’s no reverence here for the past.
My commercial work is very planned out and stylized, so I don’t always have the opportunity to explore and integrate the everyday, and the serendipity that happens only in the moment.
Follow me and see what I see. My profile name is dianacapinero
